Firefox : Insanley Insane Insanity
Revision : 1.0
Updates : No update since original post
Well , I first apologize for posting after such a long time to a very few(2 or 3) ppl who are following me as of now - b’coz I was(am) busy with my project on Hexapod (robo) about which I will be posting in future after its completion.
“So , which one is your favorite browser ? ” - this is one the common things asked on the net and amongst our friends. Some say Opera , some like Chrome , the MAC-ies do it with Safari/Firefox and most Linux freaks love Firefox and in the end if some remain then they are shockingly still stuck with Micro$oft’s IE. When it comes to my fav Web-browser its gonna be Firefox for the single reason that when i surf the net I open more than 100+ tabs in a single session and Firefox can handle lots of them without any issues like other browsers (most probably IE) which may hang some time while surfing. The important feature that Firefox has and other browsers like Opera & IE 7+ DON’T have is the Tab Navigation which makes switching between TABS a bliss when they in order of hundreds opened at the same time[Can't say about Chrome b'coz I haven't tried it yet].Recently I had opened 1085+ tabs to test the limits of Firefox and Firefox was insane enough to handle it without any performance issues. From past 3 days I was saving the last opened tabs[Last session] which would reopen when I restart Firefox so the number of opened tabs just go on adding as i open a new. Of course you need some raw processing power and some decent amount of RAM to make Firefox go so insane. Also as a Css/Javascript programmer you will prefer Firefox’s Gecko engine since Firefox complies to W3C standards more strictly than IE.
Now something about switching between tabs :
1) Just move your more mouse pointer on any tab and scroll to switch to previous or next tabs.
2) Or you can click on Previous or Next buttons on the extreme right and left of the horizontal tab list.
Here are some pics of 1085 tabs opened at a time along with its CPU and Memory usage from Task Manager :
